This year the NSW Department of Local
Government celebrates The Year of Women in
Local Government. The City of Newcastle would
like to share with you just some of the important
roles women play in our organisation helping to
bring 69 services to the community.
Director Future City - Judy Jaeger
Judy Jaeger is responsible for delivering Council's planning functions.
She oversees five service areas, including development and building,
environment and climate change, strategic planning, life services and
the Newcastle Region Art Gallery. Judy's focus is to work with her
staff to position Newcastle for a sustainable future.
Civil Project Officer - Belinda Duff
Belinda Duff is a Civil Project Officer in the Civil Services team. In her role
Belinda designs, project manages and documents civil projects for the
construction of roads, drainage and infrastructure. Her team delivers high quality
design plans and provides specialist technical expertise.
Swimming Centres Coordinator - Donna Procter
Donna Procter manages the day to day operations of Council's
five inland swimming centres. Donna oversees 11 permanent
staff and 60 temporary and casual staff. She also coordinates the
Water Safety Education Program which Council lifeguards deliver
to over 50 primary schools.
Art Gallery Registrar - Donna Robson
Donna Robson is responsible for ensuring the documentation, care
and preservation of the Gallery's valuable assets. There are over 5,000
works in the collection, including Australian and Japanese ceramics,
works on paper, paintings, sculpture and multimedia.
Landscape Architect - Sarah Horan
Sarah Horan works in Council's Landscape Architectural team
to deliver a wide variety of projects ranging from urban design
and upgrades of public parks through to delivery of Council's
street tree planting program.
Manager, Governance and Council Services - Merran Magill
Merran Magill leads a team of 16 staff to deliver professional advice across a range of
corporate services. Her team manages contracts and tenders, facilitates Council and
Committee meetings and provides advice and information to Councillors. A key part of
Merran's role is to embed good governance principles within Council.
Graphic Design Trainee - Analiza Mills
Analiza Mills is doing on-the-job training within the
Communications team who are responsible for promoting
Council projects, priorities and services to the community.
Analiza is one of 52 trainees and apprentices working in the
